Hey Girlfriend

Since I have only brothers and no sisters in my family, I have appreciated lots of good girlfriends. I have great walking buddies, good neighbors, Relief Society sisters in my ward, and many times my daughters and daughters-in-law are my girlfriends. A few years ago when we were contemplating replacing our countertops in the the kitchen, I convinced Tristan to go see what they were putting in new homes in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes. I told him that I needed him to be my girlfriend for the day. He laughed and went with me and we had a really fun time. Since then, when there is something important to me, I tell him I need him to be my girlfriend and he knows exactly what I mean.
Last night we worked hard on getting ready for the Christmas home show. (I should tell you about that in another blog...) We were tired and Tristan headed off to bed. I stayed up longer to finish my project. Much to my amazement when I went to bed, Tristan had turned on the Christmas tree lights in our bedroom and was fast asleep. It was a cozy and peaceful scene.
I thought I would have to battle him to get a tree in there. But he likes it! I thought he would balk when it wasn't the traditional red and green (which he thinks is the only way to decorate a tree.) But he likes it! I thought we would wait until closer to Christmas to start turning on the lights. But he likes them on now! I think he is having as much fun as I am decorating and enjoying the effects! He is a really GOOD girlfriend!!! Who knew???

  1. HAHA!!! Oh my goodness. I think this is so funny. so cute. and so endearing. I love hearing these things about Tristan. It helps me get to know him better and also gives me great insight on where Parker picks up some of the silliness that makes him such a fun husband. And I'm also happy to know I'm not the first girl whose needed her husband to play girlfriend for awhile (or the first to smile and laugh quietly inside when I realized how much he actually LIKED it). Such a fun post Kristy!

I hope you do post pictures of the house too! I keep thinking it'd be fun to come down and see it that weekend. But between finals and the stress you'll have over keeping it tidy I don't know if we're better off just waiting until the weekend after. Who knows though! We barely plan 4 days ahead, let alone 4 weeks.
