Tristan and I built our house not too long after we graduated from college. It was a basic starter home. When I say that we built it, I mean that literally. I helped shovel out dirt around the garage foundation just days before David was born. It was never meant to be our one and only, permanent home. But here we are over 30 years later, still living in it. Of course, we have added on, torn down walls, recarpeted, repainted, and remodeled. Secretly, I always dreamed of a home with a grand staircase, spacious foyer, and a large upstairs to wander around in.
A few days ago we participated in the annual Christmas home show to benefit the Women's shelter. We worked on the house for a couple of months cleaning and decorating. It is amazing how nice your old house can look when you declutter and clean it up! For two nights our home looked like a dream as people came to walk through it. Maybe not my dream house, but it felt cozy and beautiful and I don't want to live anywhere else. Until it gets dirty again.
When I get home from helping David and Alison with their new baby, I will post some pictures. Until then, I hope Tristan is keeping it clean!
I can't wait to see it!
