The Creepy Crawlies

LOOK CLOSELY AND YOU CAN SEE COCOONS IN EVERY INDENTATION

GIANT COCOON NESTS IN EVERY COTTONWOOD TREE

We were at the house in Rockville last weekend. I don't know if it is because it was a really wet winter or what, but there are THOUSANDS (no exaggeration) of caterpillars everywhere. They are crawling across the road, they are in the grass, they are on our porch and they are crawling up the walls of our house. We went to church on Sunday and you had to watch where you stepped in the parking lot so you didn't carry in squished caterpillars on your shoes into the church. It is GROSS. This army of crawlers is on the march to find a place to build their cocoons. There are as many cocoons already spun on the house as there are caterpillars crawling to make a cocoon. Cocoons on the door casings, cocoons in the fold of the barbeque grill cover, cocoons in every tread of the tires on the four wheeler, and cocoons in every indentation of the aluminium on the eaves of the house. We took a four wheeler ride to Grafton. When we stopped for a while, caterpillars started crawling out from where they were hidden on the four wheeler tires. I couldn't believe they could hang on while we were going that fast. I don't think they are going to hatch into beautiful butterflies either. They will probably be more of those pesky moths that dart into the house every time we open the door.
On a happier note, we also celebrated Michael's graduation this past weekend. It was lots of fun to be together and we had a great time at the Supercross finals in Las Vegas, lots more fun than attending graduation ceremonies. I could become a fan if they would take me to more of those things. Congratulations, Michael!!! We are proud of you!!!
