Every year in anticipation of Christmas, we put lights on the eaves of the house. We also put lights on stakes that we push into the ground and outline all the borders of our flower beds and bushes. We wrap 5 large bushes with strings of Christmas red lights. It looks festive and perfect all lit up for the Christmas season. It is always sad to unplug the timers after New Year's Eve and go back to a plain house.
This has been such a LONG and COLD winter. It snowed a lot just before Christmas and it was so cold that the snow didn't melt all winter. The ground was frozen too hard to pull out the stakes. Last week, the snow just about melted and then we got another huge storm that left us a foot of heavy wet cement snow.
But this week! We had Spring make an appearance! It warmed up and in no time at all the snow melted off the Christmas lights. Even the eight foot pile of snow from the plow on the street melted! I was able to pull out the stakes and remove the lights from the bushes and around the borders of the flower beds.
I guess Christmas is over, almost. There are still lights on the eaves of the house, but they are going to have to wait until the mud dries up so we can use the ladder.
Goodbye Christmas.
Welcome, WELCOME Spring!
