CHILE 2012

Pictures and words can't begin to convey what a great experience we had in Brazil and Chile. It was so great to meet people and fellow saints who Kaitlin loved so much during the time she was in Chile. It was so wonderful to hug those sweet women who loved and cared for her while she was out of our home. Cultures and living experiences may be different for us and them, but we left feeling like we had family in Chile. We love Chile. We hope to return there someday.
Kaitlin's zone was having an activity when we arrived. It was fun to meet them and pass out some Halloween candy!

It is great to be together!

On the steps of their little house.  Hermana DeMille and her companions

Boots worn out in the service of the Lord

On the beach in Vina del Mar.  Valparaiso is in the background

El Reloj de Vina del Mar.  The beginning and ending shot of Kaitlin's mission

Always a horse man no matter where he is on this earth

Chorrillana or poor man's steak.  A classic dish of the Valparaiso and Vina del Mar areas.

It is spring in Chile.  There were fields and fields of beautiful wildflowers.  Wild orange poppies and yellow wildflowers were everywhere!

Trying on sweaters in Valle Hermosa, a town famous for their knitted products

Lara eating a completo... a hot dog in a yummy bun covered with fresh chopped tomatoes, mayonaise (we left that off) and smothered in the most delicious guacamole

We got to meet Cristian, Ada and Cristian hijo and visit in their home.  Such a great family that we learned to love.  We miss you!

Last visit to the mission office to pick up "the bomb" pills

Ice cream in every part of the world.  Notice Tristan's big grin

It was so fun to meet Pia, Felipe and their sweet daughter

La Familia Urriola.  Our new best friends in Chile!  They had us come have "once" (own-say) with them, the evening light meal consisting of herbal tea or hot chocolate and breads, cheeses and cakes.  Thank you so much! We love you and miss you!

Kaitlin in Concon on the coast just barely north of Vina del Mar.

A close up look at the ocean

The steep streets of the El Retiro area of Quilpue, Kaitlin's last area where she served.  We went there first to pick up Kaitlin and then returned to attend a baptism

The baptism of Gritsy.  A fitting end to Kaitlin's service on her mission.  The very last thing we did and saw before leaving the beautiful Vina del Mar Mission.

In front of the Santiago Temple after attending a session

Los Andes.  Beautiful mountains that surround Santiago, Chile.  These pictures were taken from the window of the airport just as the sun was setting.  It was a hazy day in Santiago all day, so this was our best view of the day.

So long to much beloved Chile
